On November 8th, 2011, we have the opportunity to elect sensible, progressive leaders who care about public higher education institutions such as George Mason University.  Here’s how:

If you live on or near campus (and you are a U.S. citizen who will be 18 by November 8th), you have the right to register to vote HERE in Fairfax County, VA.

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Complete parts 1 through 7 on the Application – it only takes about two minutes! (Only page 3 of the Application needs to be sent in.)
If you live on campus, enter your address as follows on part 3 above the line for “Residence (Permanent) Home Address:”
4450 Rivanna River Way, PMB #### [insert your PMB (mailbox) number, NOT your dorm number] Fairfax, VA  22030.
2. Mail or deliver the application to: General Registrar, 12000 Government Center Pkwy Suite 323, Fairfax, VA  22035.  The application cannot be sent by email.
3. You should receive a voter card in the mail.  If you’d like to check your voter registration status, visit www.sbe.virginia.gov.  Voter cards are not required for voting as long as you have one of the other IDs listed below.
4.  VOTE. Polls are open November 8th from 6am-7pm.
If you’re registered on campus, your polling place is
GMU – University Hall
4441 George Mason Boulevard, Fairfax (across the street from the Starbucks near Rappahannock)
BRING YOUR ID TO THE POLLS.  Acceptable forms of ID include…
One of the following IDs:
♦ Virginia voter card, or
♦ Social Security card, or
♦ Valid Virginia Driver’s License
(Note: licenses expiring within 30 days before election day will be considered valid for use as voter ID), or
Any other ID issued by a Government Agency of:
♦ The Commonwealth of Virginia (including a public college or university in Virginia), or
♦ One of the Commonwealth’s political subdivisions (counties, cities, towns, etc.), or
♦ The United States, or
Any valid Employee ID Card
containing a photo and issued by the voter’s employer in the ordinary course of business.

Jack Dobbyn, a small business manager and President of the Fairfax County Young Democrats, is challenging a Republican incumbent for a seat in the Virginia House of Delegates.  The Washington Post described this contest as one of the “most competitive House races in the state.”

Location:  424 Cannon House Office Building (next to the Capitol South Metro Station).
Constituents and well-wishers may visit the office any time between 11 am and 5 pm on January 5 to share some punch and conversation, and meet Congressman Connolly.

Thursday, January 6th:  Democratic Party of Virginia Holiday Fun-Raising Dessert Reception/Meet the Chairman

Saturday, January 22:  Fairfax Co. Democratic Committee’s “Blue Jeans Ball” in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Kennedy-Johnson Inaugural
